OLD BUSINESS
ISTA Agreement with Brittany – As decided at the September 2024 meeting, a letter was sent to Brittany Shooting Park (BSP) asking for a cost structure and bid for the State Shoot. An email from Michelle Mueller was received stating target price proposals only. There was no cost structure sent. Michelle gave a verbal report to the board regarding BSP’s expenses for the state shoot. There was a lengthy discussion regarding an agreement between ISTA and BSP. Also discussed were the camping spots & the possibility of upgrading them & adding more. Michelle will check into what it will take to switch camping spots to 50 amp & adding 10 more camping spots to see if it is cost effective for BSP. Michelle indicated she would discuss the agreement with her mom and report at the next meeting. Dennis Baker made a motion that we ask Michelle to make a proposal for an ISTA payment based on the number of targets thrown on a sliding scale. Kevin Wunder seconded the motion. Motion carried. Denny proposed a suggested slidi
It was mentioned to Michelle how people were very unhappy about the port-a-potty situation at the last state shoot after the AIM shooters threw objects such as watermelons, etc.... into the port-a-potties. Parents & coaches need to police the teenagers a little closer because this behavior must stop. The dumpsters were also overflowing by Monday as well with garbage from the AIM shoot. Michelle asked the board about moving the AIM Championship off the weekend before the state shoot. The high school state shoot is the week before AIM. The difficulty would be finding a weekend to put the AIM shoot where it would not conflict with another shoot. This would need to be discussed with the coaches & changed for the 2026 shoot.
Pre-squadding for the Directors was discussed again to ensure there is always a Director in the classification building. Directors will let Michelle know their preference & she will block out those squads.
ISTA Classification Building – Michelle said the Classification building will be cleaned up this year.
NEW BUSINESS
ISTA Director Roster – Joan reported she has been working on trying to update the Director roster. It has gotten messed up with the switching of Directors, etc. She reviewed it with the Directors and will be updating and distributing.
Website Update – Dan Schocke reported the website gets about 40,000 visits a month--some of which are sites crawling us like Google, Bing, etc. After scraping all those away, we get about 2500 unique visitors a month in the winter and in the summer, it is about 6,000. There is a peak in November, when it goes to 12,000 to 15,000 visitors which would be the time to get information out to members. The website got about 2,000 downloads of our state shoot program – about 1,000 in June right before the shoot. The website is due for an update and Dan indicated he is looking at some ideas and asked the board for suggestions. He will bring changes to the board before making them. His biggest suggestion was to maximize social media. ISTA has 750 followers on Facebook. The board members expressed their appreciation to Dan and told him he’s done a great job.
DELEGATE REPORT – Bill Duncan reported there is not much going on with ATA except Dixie Grand was cancelled due to the Hurricane.
NEXT MEETING DATE – November 4, 2024, at 7:00 PM via Zoom.
ADJOURNMENT – Motion to adjourn was made by Pat Haskins; Kevin Wunder seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Respectfully submitted by Joan Maiden, ISTA Secretary
